Sourced from Kallari, our partners in the Napo province of Ecuador, these vanilla pods are grown in the region\’s traditional chakra forest-gardening system. They are a Sumak Kawsay vanilla variety.

Though the growers are not certified organic, all our vanilla is grown organically without external fertilizers or sprays.

How to prepare the pods: Slice the pod lengthwise, scrape out the inner seeds, and then add these seeds to your recipe. The leftover pod can be used in sugar, tea, bath salts, milk, etc.

1 vanilla pod = 1 teaspoon of vanilla pasteor 3 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

How to make your own vanilla extract:

  • 5 vanilla pods, halved.
  • 1 cup of vodka.

Let stand for 1 month to 1 year, strain out the pods and use the liquid as vanilla extract!
