Apricots considered an exotic fruit in India, grow abundantly in Ladakh, and are used in myriad forms in and around Kashmir.

The sweet and distinct fragrance of apricots tells us that summer has arrived. That, according to the people in Ladakh and Kashmir, is one of the ways to herald the season. In fact, in every house in this region, the first thing served to a guest during the harvesting season, to welcome them, are apricots.
